One of the most powerful features of BM-windream is the indexing of files and documents. Using customer-defined indices, large amounts of complex data can be easily structured, sorted, found and retrieved.
BM-windream classifies all files and folders according to user-defined characteristics (object types).
Object types like Lab-Book, Raw Data, CTD or SOP can be created and specific index fields assigned to each. Such index fields may hold information like "project title", "lot number", "method", "module" etc. The number of index fields that may be assigned to an object type is virtually unlimited.
The screenshot shows a simple example of an object type used for the management of SOPs. Recorded are the title, an internal SOP No., effective dates, version, author and status.
Files and Documents can be searched, grouped and retrieved using the powerful and flexible search functions of BM-windream. Searches can be pre-configured and stored as searchlets which can be used again and again. Such a searchlet could for example retrieve all SOPs that are up for review during the upcoming month. Seachlets can be used locally or shared over the network.
Index information can also be extracted from data and document files and automatically assigned to the appropriate index fields via scripting. This is especially useful for data files from automated lab equipment like chromatography systems. Chromatograms can thus be automatically tagged with all relevant meta information for storage, archiving and retrieval without any manual intervention.
